CV

2014–Present: Affiliated with the company ScanDis A/S as a freelance consultant.

2022-2025: Development of an iOS and Android app for controlling and notifying movements in private homes. The app was programmed in C# using the cross-platform MAUI architecture. I also had two additional tasks:

Programming the hardware devices that detect movement (PIR sensors). They are initialized via Bluetooth communication with the app.
Programming of a server application that manages notifications to phones – even when the app is closed down

2018-2022: Development of a browser plugin (for Chrome, Safari, Edge, among others). I programmed license management in a companion Windows/MacOS/iOS/Android app which handles In-App Purchase.

2014-2020: Development of a text-to-speech program for MacOS. The user interface programming was carried out by an Indian company, while I managed project coordination and programming of the internal data processing. In 2018, the collaboration with the Indian company ended, after which I took over the further development of the entire program.

2004-2014: Associated with ViTec (formerly MV-Nordic, previously known as MicroVærkstedet) as a consultant, where I developed products for the company, including the following notable projects

Document reader for Android Smartphone. The reader won the award for IT Assistive Technology of the Year at the HIT conference in September 2010.

System for reading web pages aloud. The system was used on a wide range of public and private websites, for example, http://www.dr.dk/nyheder/ligetil, www.fff.dk, and www.foa.dk

Mathematics program for schools from grades 1 to 10. The program was part of ViTec’s former school agreement. Afterwards, I implemented an online web version of the program.

Implementation of text-to-speech on Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android

2011-2014: In collaboration with a journalist, I recorded and edited several web films. As part of the collaboration, I produced a video player to display the films, see https://avoconsult.dk/jfoplayer/default.aspx

2013: Together with a journalist and two photographers, taught at a summer media school in Tasiilaq, Greenland. One of the results is a website for each participant, where they can present themselves, for example in connection with job interview, see http://avoconsult.dk/tasiilaq/index.html

1995-2011: Co-owner of the company Cinderella ApS (see www.cinderella.dk), which sells design tools based on SDL (see below). I sold my one-third share of the company in 2011. During my time at Cinderella, I likely wrote a few hundred thousand lines of C++.

2000-2003: Consultancy tasks for various clients. I have developed tools for SOLINET in Stuttgart, worked for Siemens in Berlin, and collaborated on speech synthesis for the Danish company SpeechWare.

1983-1999: From the time I graduated as a civil engineer in 1983 until I started as an independent consultant in 1999, I was employed at TDC. From 1998 to 1999, I served as a section manager overseeing 17 employees.

1984-1999: Researched, developed tools for, and participated in the standardization of the specification language SDL. In the 1980s and early 1990s, due to my involvement in the standardization of SDL, I was a leading expert in the field. Until 1999, the SDL work was carried out through TDC, which after the merger of telephone companies became Tele Danmark Research).
